B.Ed is a professional training course to train the secondary as well as higher secondary teachers in order to harness and sharpen their teaching skills. The Govt. CTE Kokrajhar, formerly known as PGTC Kokrajhar, was established in 1971 with a view to facilitating secondary school teachers to refresh and upgrade themselves professionally by undergoing the B.Ed. training. The B.Ed course, with intake capacity of 100 students with a course duration of one year, was permitted and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), and duly affiliated to Gauhati University.
In the year 2017 the college was shifted under Bodoland University as per the Government decision that all colleges under the BTAD ( Bodoland Territorial Area Districts) should be under Bodoland University and now since the year 2017, the college is affiliated to Bodoland University situated at Kokrajhar, Assam.
Presently in our B.Ed. Course we have fifty percent of fresh trainees and fifty percent deputed teachers offering their B.Ed. course which is designed in a semester system of four semesters comprised within a span of two years.
The college also started a two years M.Ed. Course in the year 2017 under the affiliation of Bodoland University, as per the permission given by the NCTE, ERC Bhubaneswar and the first batch of the M.Ed. trainees have already completed their M.Ed. course successfully with a hundred percent success rate.
The college is equipped with a well furnished infrastructure with a total campus area of 10756.8 sqm and are under construction. We have a well furnished ICT laboratory, Geography Laboratory well equipped digital library.
We also have a well qualified and capable teaching and non teaching staff that fully satisfy the NCTE criteria.
Since its very inception, the college stood rock solid in realising its goal and mission, and is now about to complete almost a glorious 50 years.
